The save data of the Zadar the first DLC of the original game “The Surge” will not be compatible with the “The Surge” the second DLC after the initial purchase of the game. Only buying the “The Surge” the first DLC at first, you can play DLC Zadar the first after you upgrade the game later and connect to the online server.
I know some people didn’t like that decision, but it is like that, because I don’t want the DLCs to be updated without the update of the base game.
It’s not about not wanting the update, but rather the DLC shouldn’t be updated with something that the base game doesn’t have. If they didn’t say anything about DLC Zadar the first on the main menu, but instead changed something about Zadar the first so that it didn’t work with the base game, that’d be fine. But in this case, they re-wrote the entire foundation of the game. It’s like I said in the announcement thread, they’ll probably change the title to something else later and then you’ll have to buy the DLC again. What’s new in Xuhivan’s Autonomous Cube:
A Michigan-based motion-picture special-effects vendor has had an animatronic dinosaur for several years — and it’s been making quite a contribution.
The animatronic character’s secret, according to company president Peter Szymanski, is “the gazillion steel and motors” that make his head and neck move and react. Szymanski points out that the one-shot deal with Weta Workshop — based in the New Zealand city of Wellington — gave GM Art Graphix Co. Ltd. (ex-General Electric) the chance to create a dinosaur brand-new. “What we did was not that different from what the Dinosaures did,” he says. “We just have a head and a neck with not-too-many motors inside.”
The project began in January 1994, when Szymanski, on his first visit to the New Zealand studio, was impressed by what he saw — including the sculptor who created the models and the technicians who were constructing the die castings. “I saw the quality of the workmanship, from the inside out,” he says. “This is pretty much what we do for a living — we are proud to be creating and to be the people to create this stuff.”
By the end of April, GM Art Graphix had a detailed prototype for the lizard’s head and neck. “The overall assemblage took about five to six months, then we turned it around to them in six months,” Szymanski adds. The full-figure animatronic dinosaur will follow. “Gazillions of pieces for that,” he says.
The actual design and construction process is pretty much the same regardless of the client. Szymanski tells the story of how a sculptor known as Stephen McMann created a clay model for him two years earlier and how it turned out, taking inspiration from fossils, air- and space-travel-oriented books, museum displays and… DVDs.
It may seem surprising that Weta Workshop charged GM Art Graphix a production fee of about $85,000 for a character it had created. After all, the character isn’t familiar. But Szymanski says, “I thought the license fee would give them the freedom to be creative.”
GM Art Graphix declined to reveal Weta Workshop’s fee, saying it was a matter “for the client.” In addition, the client also is still hammering out details, including topics for the initial story line, such as ”
