In the first thirty-eight chapters of the Old Testament God is doing
his best to bring about his purposes, but Jonah and the people of Israel
are hostile to it. In the first nine chapters God answers their prayers,
in the last nine, he tells them he will send a disaster upon them.

2 Now the word of the LORD came to Jonah a second time, saying:3 What
