The Zipweb application was designed to be a small utility for viewing the index of remote ZIP packages located on HTTP servers without downloading them.
The program supports proxy and automatic keep-alive and has a lot of options and useful functions as the interactive download of the files in the ZIP package or their download based on part of filenames (so for example is possible to download a text file of 2 kilobytes from a ZIP file of 3 gigabytes in a couple of seconds) and the CRC32 comparison between the remote files in the ZIP and the local files on the disk.
It works with both ZIP and auto-extracting ZIP files so use it also with EXE files and can be used also to show only the size of any remote file

There are two ways to call this program:
the first one is to run the “Zipweb Torrent Download.exe” executable (it also works with the shell script file) directly on the command line so it will download the remote ZIP package and list its contents.
The other is to launch the Zipweb Free Download web page from any browser that supports HTML and Javascript and will then display the ZIP packages that it finds there

In the first way to run this program the application needs to be installed in the system PATH.

Installer Notes:

The program is Win32 console application.

It does not require administrator rights to be run.

If you execute it through a web browser the program must be installed in the default web browser “C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE”

In the second way of launching the program the application needs to be installed in the browser or in the path that the browser normally loads exe programs from.
This is the default path “C:\WINDOWS\system32”

The program is portable so it can be run from a USB memory stick or other removable media.

The second way to install this program is to copy the content of “zipweb” directory to the application directory of the web browser or any folder that works with the browser like “C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application”

The program does not need to be installed in the system PATH.

Currently the program can download only Zipfiles.

How to use zipweb
Downloading a ZIP package

1. Launch the web site zipweb.com
2. Enter the address of the remote ZIP file in the form of “”.
3. If your web browser supports it you can choose to download the file (two ways of doing this):
a. Doubleclick on the link to download the file.
b. Drag and drop the link to the web browser.
4. If you need to download the ZIP package from the browser using the second method you only have to paste the address of the ZIP file,

I need to recreate some files on a very large disk, but since it’s attached to a SAN, I need to work with a Windows server that’s located there.
The disk on the SAN is a non-native UFS filesystem.
