I’m going to, I’m going to go in and, go in to my shape layer, and I’m going to add a new key frame there. I’m going to set it to twelve frames, and it’s going to be at the end of my animation, and I’m going to do the same thing. And this is gonna kind of like, I’m gonna swing it back just a little bit and then come over. And I’m going to do it again. Okay. I’m gonna do that over and over and over again until it looks like a nice little wave going. And then I’m going to I’m going to copy, duplicate that key frame, and I’m going to set it to I’m going to adjust it a little bit, and I’m gonna turn it into a started key frame. Okay. And now I’m just going to make it a continuous curve. I’m going to bring up my graph editor, and I’m just going to use that curve like that on the same in and out key frame. I’m just going to reset it to zero, and I’m going to make it an easy ease. That’s gonna do something like a little bit of this. There you go. That’s gonna do it. I’m just going to make it a little bit less like a hard kind of hard shot. And I’m going to turn it into a bounced bounce. And then I’m gonna copy that key frame to make one more, and I’m going to make that a starting key frame. And then I’m just going to make it an easy ease. And that’s going to be the second morph.

And then I’m going to add a key frame to the end of the character, and that is going to be the moment that it morphs into C. Okay. So, you know, what I did there was I duplicated that key frame just a little bit, and I made the second key frame half of the length that of the first, like it’s coming right back to the same time, just a little longer. And I’m going to use the identical curve I did on the morph from A to B and make that one an easy ease. So I’m going to make one more.

Motion Array also has a tutorial on creating a bank in After Effects, which is very helpful for creating videos that act as motion graphics as well. They also offer a bunch of free templates for After Effects as well. We will be using that in this tutorial as well. On top of that, we will also be using the Flexible Shape Animation to create the sample animation.
The dots that were added to the Array are not required, so we can delete them by clicking the shape layer’s eye icon in the effects panel. Now we can change the fill color of the shape by editing the shape layer’s stroke color. Change the color to 50% gray, and then change the opacity to about 95%.
Next, we will create a basic transition in the timeline. This is very easy to accomplish. Click the third shape layer, and click the Add > Motion Array button. Next, change the transition type to morph, and change the opacity to 0%.
Um, so for now, let’s turn this into a vector shape. So it has a fill, but it’s just a path layer, which, um, sometimes after effects does not like. So it’s always a good idea to make sure that you have a fill inside of a path layer to force after effects to actually render it.
So then there’s a few things here. Um, first of all, I want to be able to control, you know, the, um, key frames better. So first of all, I want to be able to get rid of these key frames on these little. This spot here right here. This I don’t need. Um, I can just drag it to any frame I want. So I’m just going to drag that key frame all the way up to here. Okay. You see how that looks, and you know, it looks a little bit. Um, we want to do the same with this one, yeah. And so you know, with the shape, it’s funny how you just basically can do everything I’ve been making a little bit more naturally. But I think we can do better and we’re going to go ahead and just go in the curve editor, right. So the curve editor is the one thing that, um, it’s a little bit, if you’re not in motion, you’re not really going to utilize, right? Um, you have to kind of get into after effects to do a lot of the cooler stuff, but it’s it’s also, for me, the most underwhelming. So whenever I have a project, I get into the curve editor. Um, you have to work really closely, um, or at least I do. I’m sure others work differently, but I like to get in the curve editor and kind of, you know, tweak this, you know, little things.
