This is an open source program for creating, animating and working with 3D Bezier surfaces. It is intended as an educational tool as well as a functional program to make creating, animating, and managing Bezier surfaces a quick and easy experience.

The BezierSurfaceView is an easy to use custom view class for handling user interaction with 3D Bezier surface patches, while using the GPU to render the surface patch. It has been written with DirectX programming in mind, so it is very easy to implement in your own 3D graphics application.

There are currently 2 versions available of BezierSurfaceView: a 1.0 V2 version (BezierSurfaceView v1.0 with BezierSurfaceUI) and the currently tested 1.0 V2/2.0 beta version (BezierSurfaceView v2.0 with BezierSurfaceToolkit).

BezierSurfaceView v1.0 is fully functional but includes a lot of the extra logic for the BezierSurfaceToolkit in the form of if statements. The BezierSurfaceUI will manipulate the user’s input to a surface that has been created in the new BezierSurfaceView v2.0

The BezierSurfacePointPicker is a tool for picking points on a 3D surface which is used by the BezierSurfaceListPointPicker and BezierSurfaceSurface.

The BezierSurfaceListPointPicker is a selection tool used for selecting points on a 3D surface, which allows you to do things such as pan around the surface and press and hold on a point for an automatic selection or do other complex operations

• Users can create, modify, and revise Bezier surface patches while viewing the Bezier surface patch in 2D view.
• Viewers can use the various controls to modify Bezier surface patches:
(1) Tail-line control
(2) Original tail-line control
(3) Directional tail-line control
(4) Up-down/down-up control
• Students can modify Bezier surface patches in 2D view; 2D view looks like a drawing canvas, allowing students to easily create, delete, and edit Bezier surface patches.
• Users can click the “Create” button to create a new Bezier surface patch; the new Bezier surface patch is displayed in the drawing viewport (2D view)
• Users can use the “Delete” button to delete Bezier surface patches, or click the “Revise” button to modify Bezier surface patches.

In 1950, after more than 10 years of captivity at the hands of the Japanese, the American POWs of World War II were freed by the US Army. They were greeted with a phenomenal, yet simple gesture, and their bodies were fattened up for a few weeks, so they could be flown back to America. It was a gesture that not only saved the POWs, but also symbolized a new beginning for the American populace.

How many of us have contemplated the question, “What would I do if I were freed from that situation, and given a chance to do it all over again?”

Well, these three POWs had a chance to do it over, but for some of them, it came too late. As they returned home, all of the POWs were greeted with medical attention, and eventually, with thick, corn-fed bodies.

What happened to these POWs was not only tragic, but it was a shame. How many of us would have followed a similar path if given the chance?

Would we have done all that we did, and would we have accomplished all that we have accomplished?

We just don’t know, but we do know that there are POWs today who are left behind, left to rot in a Japanese POW camp, never being able to take the chance of not only doing it all over again, but doing it right.

When you first run the application you will be presented with a Bezier surface tutorial. Click on the tutorial.
If you have a NURBS surface open – select it, then use the default Bezier Surface editor.
