Even one of the most productive people I know, probably one of my peers here, moved to a full setup with an E64 on the desk, hooked to the display and the computers.
Your time is valuable, and so is mine. I typically work at a sit for eight hours uninterrupted. I take one and a half hour breaks, after a certain amount of time, not even necessarily just one and a half hour. During a break I’ll check email, write down a task to work on later, make a pot of tea or a cup of coffee.
I do a lot of stuff between the sit and that break. And if I’m in the middle of something, take a break at the end and go back to what I was doing, maybe even work on another task if I’m feeling it. When I get back from that break I do a significant amount of work for an hour to an hour and a half. If I hit a wall or can’t think about what I’m doing at all, or where I want to go with some task, I take a break.
Then after another hour, do it all again, break maybe an hour later.
If I have to get some work done after that, or take a phone call, I might take a break again.
