I found this game pretty fun. I played about half of the game, and it seemed like the fun and frustration were turned in the right balance. It had the usual fantasy RPG battles with slow waiting times (half of the game). There were also long stretches of exploring random areas in the world that were pretty fun and weird to explore and battle against monsters. The combat involved a pretty unique take on the formula, which was fun to play against.
The storyline was pretty interesting. I really liked the part where the main character became separated from the rest of the party and encountered these other memories of the party you had experienced the plot with previously. It was a pretty cool and different twist to the story.
There were a few quests that felt a bit odd, or were really annoying or just didn’t fit in the storyline. Sometimes this led to the quest being bypassed completely, but that’s just part of the risk of playing a video game.
If you enjoy a variety of adventure RPG titles, this could be a good fit. I would say for the most part the combat was fun, but that’s probably more the exception than the rule.
For those of you who like a more traditional fantasy RPG, this probably isn’t the game for you. This is pretty much a remix of a lot of different RPG styles. If you like a fantasy setting and want to experience a reworking of that world, then this is probably more your cup of tea.
Comparing this game to
This game had a lot more standard fantasy RPG gameplay than the new Fantasy RPG. This game felt more like Elder Scrolls than like a more traditional RPG, and the combat was the same type of hack’n’slash action that you see in Elder Scrolls.
I think that this game, much like Elder Scrolls, is more fun to play if you like the specific type of game it is.
For those who want something a little different from the typical fantasy action RPG, I’d say this is probably a good game to play.
