you can see which libraries have been frozen into circuitpython in the download project bundle button. just look for a box next to the libraries name that says “frozen” in it. that will tell you if that library has been frozen into circuitpython for that board.

i’m trying to use a piezoelectric buzzer with the esp8266 in circuitpython and have been having trouble getting it to work. i have looked through the libraries and have found several piezo examples using the piezo.h library, but none of them are working. the piezo library can be found here:

in my case, the problems with freezing are not due to whether or not libraries are frozen into circuitpython, they are of how circuitpython deals with libraries that are frozen into it. if you have frozen libraries that work fine on the esp8266, it seems that you cannot even import these libraries into a project.
check the lib directory of the esp8266 project bundle to see if the circuitpython libraries are in your build. there should be a folder called lib of the name of your board. look for a folder called tensorflow. if you find this, then you will want to be sure not to use the module name tensorflow. if there is no lib directory, then you are not using the libraries available in circuitpython. this is probably because you are using a copy, not the circuitpython source.
in contrast, the page where i found the solution i quoted, their error messages suggested their probably python parser became confused. i wish it was that, but my emacs wasnt even being run (so i had no hints on what to look for in the source code), and i probably wouldnt have found the issue if the two python libraries (and possibly other packages?) were not missing. though i rather think it is something more general:
in the case of libraries that are frozen into circuitpython, the api is likely to be similar to that of python. it’s unlikely that you will find a method that does exactly what you want. instead, you will likely find a class that provides the desired functionality. in the case of frozen libraries, they likely have a class like this:
you can uninstall any libraries that you don’t need by removing them from \appdata\roaming\circuitpython\libs. it’s also possible to update to the latest version of circuitpython by visiting the downloads page and downloading and installing a new build. if you need to change which libraries are used in an example, you can do so by exporting the code in question using the circuitpython libraries tool and then reimporting it. the libraries tool will automatically add any frozen libraries that were not included when reimporting the code. to learn more, see the circuitpython libraries page.
the libraries in your circuitpython build may have been frozen in a compatible version with the libraries available on the machine. if so, the frozen library will not be automatically used. it is possible to edit the libraries used by an example by editing the library path in the python script in the example. alternatively, it is possible to edit the libraries imported by an example. this latter approach is described further below.
