its director is well-known for his social satires. vinod kapri is the brother of the director of my brother nikhil. his previous film, the dirty picture, was a huge hit, and he has also helmed the superb art house film, the sky is pink. in miss tanakpur, he fails to find the humour, or the humanising touch that is so necessary in a satire like this.
miss tanakpur haazir ho is a tedious, unnecessary film that goes nowhere. it is well-made but has missed the point. you have to admire vinods attempt to make a socially relevant film, but he has failed miserably.

arjun and soolayal are rivals on a court room. both are interested in getting the upper hand over the other. they both have their own personal issues, arjun’s is a straying bride and soolayal’s is the state. the differences between the two, arjun & soolayal are almost like the yin & yang. while arjun is empathetic towards miss tanakpur, soolayal is still interested in hurting her. this contest continues throughout the film and it is at the final hearing where both arjun & soolayal are locked up.
there are some great scenes in the film. like the one where arjun is arguing with miss tanakpur, which is likely to be her last day in the court room. it is a beautifully shot scene with some great lines in it. the role of the director is evident from the way he is able to catch some unique moments in the context of the story line.
