it would not be accurate to say that the original plan for blue coast was to make records as well as to share the magic i saw in the studio. after all, you can only record a live performance in one take, and every take costs money. but as we progressed, it became clear that the music was a better way to share that experience. so we started blue coast as a record label and almost everything else grew out of that. i was really fortunate to have a background in recording, engineering and music. it made it a lot easier to start blue coast. not only did i have a lot of experience, but i was able to use technology in a creative way to help the musicians develop their skills in the studio and the control room.

there are many lessons i have learned from running blue coast and my philosophy for the label has developed over time. i would advise any musician starting out in the music industry to think hard about your career goals. in my case i wanted to share the magical moments i experienced in the studio with music lovers worldwide. so i focused on that first.

magic comes from the latin word magis (more) or magic. it is a word that is used to describe things that are mysterious or surprising. i think that is what makes music magical. when you are in a room with an artist, you have no idea what is going to happen, and no idea what they are going to sing or play. and when the musicians are playing and singing in the same room you also have no idea what that will sound like. the fact that it is a single take makes the magic even more exciting, but also scary. then the journey begins, and when the musicians leave the studio the magic continues.

the jean-marie reynaud folia ex has a passive filter which has a high-pass and low-pass cutoff frequency of 3.2 khz. jean-claude reynaud explained that the crossover filter is entirely assembled by hand, without any printed circuit, to avoid insertion loss. all the components of the filters are directly welded together using silver and are positioned in the most efficient way. the components are oriented to avoid any unwanted electromagnetic field generation. all components are of audiophile quality: scr 650 v polypropylene capacitors, high power capacity ceramic resistors and 1.2 mm gauge pure ofc wire self with ferrite support, for a very low ohm resistance. this self enables the speaker to deliver crisp bass without any dynamic reduction and with a very low level of distortion. lastly, a specific copper-silver cable is used for internal wiring.
