I’m more than 30 years old, and I’ve had my share of heavy use of Photoshop for years. The last time I added Photoshop to my workflow was to replace the tried-and-true Photoshop Elements 8 (which I included in my workflow for roughly a year before replacing with Lightroom 3). I was able to survive the learning curve required for the full Photoshop workflow, and I ended up switching to Lightroom. I found that the features and speed of Lightroom made working with photos, especially when compared to working with negatives, easier, faster, and more convenient. This experience with Lightroom has led me to a program that’s used far more often than my typical Adobe Creative Suite software, and that’s the main reason I’m writing this article.
There are so many programs available for editing. For my personal work, I tend to use Lightroom CC as it is perfect for what I do. It allows you to store everything from RAWs to prints in one place. You can also use it as a nice photo editor.
What It Does: Use the Clone Stamp tool to remove objects from an image, while you keep portions of the surrounding area selected. The Cloning Stamp tool uses a simple grid overlay to guide you, and you can quickly clone over objects for smoother editing.
What It Does: The new crop tool features an easy selection that lets you accurately frame any image. With the New Crop tool, you can quickly adjust the proportions of an image without warping the image. Use the image views to zoom in any proportion, from 40-percent to 400-percent.
In the aesthetic realm, Adobe has increased the total number of brush strokes from the previous version of Photoshop. Of course that’s taken place with the launch of new technology and the improvement of the paint brush to create more detailed and refined results to match the resolution of displayed images. The number of possible actions for the brush tool has also increased. You can enhance the images in various ways, such as adding layers, filling an area strategically with new color, removing unwanted details (like wings, clothing, etc.) or blotters, subduing the contrast of the images, and so forth.

Canvas layers are one of the most important features in the whole series, promising ease of use and flexibility. Unlike in Elements, only a very few layers are available, but you can create new ones and you have full control over how, when and what is visible when working on them. You can choose the image or canvas size, rotate, zoom, align and place objects, and make changes to the filter, brightness and contrast. You can even create and name layers and you can work on several layers at once. To name a layer, click Image >>> Layer >> New and enter your name. You can also create a new image by pressing File > New. The work-overlay is a neat panel where you can see every change you make to an image. You can go back and forth between them and they are also the only thing you can see when working with layers. When in action, you can zoom and pan the canvas. But the canvas only shows small areas of the image.
Adobe Photoshop can be downloaded and installed on a computer. If you need to work on several files, it has the concept of the “Secondary” tool. If you install an Adobe Photoshop file on your “Secondary” tool, the first Photoshop file will be closed down.

Adobe Photoshop is the `definitive’ image editor. Quite simply, there is no other application that offers quite the same range of options or provides quite the same degree of control over `where’ the image is in the environment. Photoshop gives you software tools to create a single image by combining numerous individual elements using powerful functions. I feel it is an incredibly powerful piece of software.
Adobe Photoshop has been around for a long time now. This was the first real digital image editing application that is still being used and is still being created. It is still like the computer world. This is why you still see a lot of older software and not a lot of new software. The features and the idea is still the same.
The Photoshop editing process is a multi stage design process. It consists of editing, masking, change, and healing. Masking is the initial step of editing where you use drawing tools, the Layer Mask and clipping path to isolate and mask areas.
The new features and tools offered with Adobe Photoshop CC 2017:
- New native layers: Switch to a true Node-based structure for deep editing and compositing.
- Support for node-based cloning: Only one layer can be cloned at a time, so you select the clone layer, select Copy Layer, select the node to use as the clone and then click “Clone layer.” The new layer type is ideal when editing multiple small or multiple layers at once and moves fast and smoothly.
- Brush tool improvements: New tools that enable you to edit pixels using brushes to create sophisticated gradients, polygonal and freeform shapes, and hatch patterns, as well as control the flow of paint from one brush to another Brush growth, new features like Groups and Layer Styles Porpose, and watercolor starters have also been added to the Edit Panel.
- Presets panel: The Settings panel now gives presets actual names, making it easier to find presets using tags, while new tags let you group a set of presets together for easy creation.

- Refine Edge tool: Easily smooth and round edges, including rounded rectangles, ellipses, and polygons, using a variety of options such as Threshold, “Control points” for removing sharp or rough corners, and “Smooth” which uses a sample of the pixels around the edge of the anchor point to smooth the edge.
- Markup panel: Easily create your own layer styles, add brush presets, and add your own brush and path styles.
- Transfer panel: Transfer layers via drag and drop, including copy, paste, flatten, scale, and rotate.
- Camera Raw panel: Easily adjust color, exposure, and other settings.
- Merged layers: Makes it easy to merge multiple layers into one, set angles, scale, and rotate.
- Layer and content-aware fill: Fill images with color, without getting black edges around them.
- Workflow panel: Automatically organize your work image by location and file, easily adjust and sort layers, and organize the layers and media which you are using. It also has common shortcuts, save and print.
Of course, you can also do all this using Photoshop’s Layers palette, but the Layers dialog also lets you see a visual representation of all images and layers in your file. With all your images and groups of images now in layers, you’re now able to organize and rearrange them just as you would with any layer. To do this, double-click on a layer and you can change the order and position of all the layers in your image.
You can also use the Layers panel and create duplicate layers. By sorting them, you can make different looks or changes. Even better, you can select all layers and make changes to them all at once. To do this, click on the effects icon in the Layers panel and choose Merge Layers. As you can see, layers are merged together. You can also now make new groups of layers with more than one file in them and rearrange them in the order you like.
You can easily save two or more image files at once. To do this, click on the Arrange button in the Layers panel, then choose Send to Back. Then click on the down-arrow next to Duplicate Layer to open the Duplicate dialog box.
From the Duplicate dialog box, choose Preview and you’ll be able to see the difference in the two files. Then, simply press Enter to select which file is going to be the active file. You can now save this file and name it whatever you want.
Among the new updates is Share for Review, a new way to work in Photoshop and across the Web. Share for Review provides visual collaboration and feedback, enabling users to quickly and easily review and test various aspects of a shared design or illustration. Because PSD files live inside a web browser, sharing can happen without having to use complex FTP or SFTP file transfer mechanisms. This new feature enables designers to work in real-time on shared files across the Web, and brings Photoshop tools directly to the browser using the powerful Adobe Edge Animate toolset.
