the 2b was shipped with a default stimulation rate of 25 pulses per second (pps), unless we decided to make a change for that particular pair of headphones. the default stimulation rate is therefore not the fastest or slowest rate possible and higher or lower rates can be set, via menus, if required. e stim rates are based on the frequency and phase of the incoming audio signal from the headphones and are typically faster and more accurate (but less audible) in mode ‘faster pulse’, while ‘slow pulse’ is slower with more noticeable pulses.

for those who prefer to keep it simple, the 2b can be set to three fixed stimulation rates and there are also three dedicated pulse mode settings. the standard pulse mode can be set to either the ‘normal’ default 25pps setting or an ‘instant mode’ of 40 pps or 65 pps (depending on your headphones, available via the main menu). by using our free ‘pulse mode plug in’ audio software the 40 pps or 65 pps pulses can be made to be more audible or less audible (by adjusting the frequency and phase of the audio processing, available in advanced mode). we also have a ‘voice patch’ which reduces the high frequency sine wave tone sent to the headphones, (a similar effect to doing this to headphones with a ‘comfort off’ mode).. the ‘faster pulse’ can be set to 115, 140 or 165 pps (for example, faster to process) but at the expense of perceptibility. the ‘slower pulse’ can be set to 85, 105 or 125 pps, again at the expense of perceptibility. the 3rd pulse mode type allows e stim for the duration of the selected audio file or track – simply select the duration you wish to be controlled and that duration will be used to set up the 2b. the lowest possible pulse mode is 85pps, for those who are interested in that. the maximum possible pulse mode is 165pps, for those with a short attention span. the 3rd pulse mode allows the 2b to be triggered manually and behave exactly as you wish to enable the 3rd method.
