i have a dgi omega cutting plotter as well. my son used the dgi for his printing class. it took him a few times to get it configured correctly. there are a lot of options. he only used the plotter to do some simple printing of signs. i only had a few issues. you need to calibrate the head as the printer is a little on the heavy side. i used an industry standard x, y calibration board and got mine about where i wanted. i have a wide variety of vinyl cutters that i use with the dgi. the dgi will print on just about any vinyl. i have had it print on vinyl, screen print vinyl, print vinyl, extrude vinyl, heat transfer vinyl. i have not had a problem with it printing on anything other than vinyl or heat transfer vinyl.
i just had to get the motor and stepper drivers checked out. they are not the problem, it is the control board that is having issues. i am very disappointed in the quality of the control board that comes with the dgi omega.
the omega controller has several powerful features that make programming and controlling the stepper motor or drives a breeze. you can select the direction of motion, speed and acceleration (which corresponds to the offset). the controller can be programmed with many types of stepper motors and drives. the programmable outputs are exclusive to the omega controller. the manufacturer’s recommended motor and drive combinations are listed in the motor data sheets.
the omega controller can be programmed using the proprietary omega software. the controller and the indexer are not pre-programmed and must be programmed using the omega software. all of the motor options are listed in the motor data sheets.
