We got this game here for about £10. It’s a really neat little game and we played it over and over again. Whilst it does follow the general concept of being a soundboard for the game, you only need to take a single set of headphones to hear it all. Although it’s a small game, you can feel like you are in the studio in the game – it’s like playing a FM game with some extra features. At its core, DJ Max is a rhythm game which has a unique style of gameplay that’s fun for everyone in the family, from kids to grandad. There are 16 different difficulty modes to choose from, from the simple (Easy, Medium, Hard) to the demanding (Expert, Novice, Genius). You are given a playlist, a drum kits, and a mix of 8 different songs to master. If you are new to rhythm games, they are easy to get to grips with and don’t take a long time to get to grips with.
Story Line:
You are a DJ who has been disowned by his father and only his girlfriend is aware of his desire to become a DJ. You have received a message from your girlfriend that she is looking for you and that the time is coming where you’ll need to call her, she’s “Getting mad at you not contacting her again.” Get to all the various venues you’ll see in the game, to play your music on the big stages. Those stages are all different – you play in the DJ booth, or the main stage, even on the side stage, looking into the crowd. There are different instruments and music in the game – guitar, bass guitar, a drum set, and the turntables. Each club has a different selection of music, meaning that it’s nice and varied – and you’ll love the unique sound effects and bit of character that each venue has. Different venues will have different sounds which can be either good or bad, depending on what you want to achieve!
Graphics:
The graphics of the game look really nice. It has a retro-futuristic feel to it. Although not full on 2d side scrolling, the speed is nice and fast. The combination of old school looks with modern tech makes for an interesting mix.
