The Basics

When you launch AutoCAD, you’ll be asked to choose between the Free Preview and the Autodesk Subscription. The Autodesk Subscription is Autodesk’s cloud-based subscription service for commercial CAD use. The free trial for AutoCAD is only limited to the use of the web-based user interface (UI), which uses JavaScript, and can’t be used to create or modify files or draw directly on-screen. The Autodesk Subscription offers unlimited use of the desktop app, as well as access to shared projects and cloud storage.

The Autodesk Subscription is a good option for new or busy users with small- or medium-sized projects. AutoCAD includes powerful features like parametric drawing and analysis tools, and provides templates for common design tasks. You can upload project files to the cloud, save your drawings in multiple formats, and access your drawings in a web browser. The Autodesk Subscription also offers an industry-standard subscription plan with Autodesk’s pro subscription service, called Enterprise Subscription, which features advanced, enterprise-level functionality for business users.

If you use the cloud, you can host your files directly on the cloud storage service that you choose (like Dropbox) or via a dedicated service like OneDrive. Autodesk has recently announced plans to release native cloud storage for AutoCAD users, so you can use the cloud as your main storage location.

Mac OS X: Most Mac OS X applications are Mac OS 9 applications which have been recompiled with the Carbon API. Mac OS X does not have the ability to run on Windows, and vice versa. How to get column index in dataGridView1.Rows

I’m using a VB6.0 Application.
I have a dataGridView in my form.
Here is how my dataGridView looks like:

I have a UserControl placed on the dataGridView.
And it contains an other control which is a textbox.
This control is hidden until the user click on a certain column.
In this case, the second column.
The textbox’s width is equal to the column’s width.
So I can get the column index with this simple line:

The problem comes when I want to get the row index of the clicked cell.
I’m using this line:
Dim rowIndex As Integer = DirectCast(dataGridView1.Rows(1), DataGridViewRow).Cells(“secondColumnName”).RowIndex

But the value of this index is always -1.
I don’t understand why.
Any help would be really appreciated.

The problem is that the DataGridViewRow.Cells collection is not indexed. The RowIndex property is not the same as the ColumnIndex property, and the DataGridViewRowCollection does not allow a foreach loop that works with indexing. Instead, you need to get a handle to the DataGridViewRow, such as:
