Open AutoCAD and create a new drawing or open a drawing from your favorite file format. You will need to install the AutoCAD software before you can access the program. You will also need to register your copy of the software and make an online license available before you can use the software.

Step 1: Open a New Drawing

Select File | New from the menu bar and choose the type of drawing you want to create. You can select from the following options:

Single Object or Group

Single Object or Group Plane

Single Object or Group 2D or 3D

Single Object or Group Guide

Single Object or Group Custom

Single Object or Group Text

Single Object or Group Sect

1-D: Line, Arc, Spline, Curve, Circle, Polyline

2-D: Rectangle, Polygon, Freeform

3-D: Solid, Surface, Shell, Ribbon

Before you create your drawing, you must first select the Drawing Type. When you select any of the drawing type options, you will see the options available for that type of drawing on the right side of the screen.

Once you have selected the drawing type and opened your drawing, you can add the elements you need to create your drawing.

Drawing Elements

Once you have opened a new drawing, you need to add a title for the drawing. You will also need to add the necessary drawing elements. The drawing elements you need to add will depend on the type of drawing you have selected. The following table lists the common drawing elements available in each drawing type.

Step 2: Add Drawing Elements

To add a drawing element to your drawing, select Add on the left side of the screen or on the right side of the screen for the element you want to add.

To add a title to your drawing, select the Text tool and draw the title in the desired location. You can also add an annotation with a drawing element to help you identify your drawing. Once you have added the title and drawing element, press the Enter key to complete adding the element to your drawing.

Press Enter to add text to your drawing.

Step 3: Edit the Drawing Elements

You can edit the drawing elements you have added to the drawing by selecting one of the following options:

View the entire drawing by pressing the (alt) key.
