After using the Photoshop CS Extended 2015 review in my book (see the January issue this year), it was great to review the relatively new version of Photoshop CS6. This time around, I was so excited I almost missed the download! Using the application on a PC, I edit a selection of 55 subjects that look like a mix of images taken with a smartphone and those from DSLR cameras. I had no trouble making changes to the subjects in the camera module, and then having the computer crop and resize the individual parts of the selection in the photo module.

You can always use File > New > Layer to create a new layer as well. But, given that it didn’t work, I’m not sure why this is the default choice.

I also tried to add text on a layer and move it. I was surprised to find that I couldn’t do that. I expected that you could simply drag the text anywhere you wanted on the layer, perhaps using the “drag handles” that appear on layers.
