When you start the game, you can switch between the desktop and immersive mode by selecting one of your preferred options in the StateroomS and Sails Vail screen. The desktop mode is used for inventory management, quick crafting instructions, recipe editing, and the game’s interface. The immersive mode is used for the immersive experience and for communication with other players. The content of the immersive mode is the same across all supported devices, but it may be presented differently depending on the limitations of the particular device and screen the players are using at the time.
When you start a game, you should create a quick inventory by placing all your best items in the first room available (right next to the stairs). If you do not create a quick inventory right away, you will have to start crafting everything at the beginning of each game, making you extremely vulnerable in the first hours of play (especially against players that have not created their quick inventories).
When you load a game, you will be told by the game whether you are in desktop or immersive mode, and you can switch between modes by clicking the menu button. If you are in immersive mode, you can switch to desktop mode by using the Escape key.
Each character class has 2 skills that can be learned. You can level these skills up by gaining experience points for engaging in different games. These experience points can be gained by crafting items in your inventory and selling items from your inventory to vendors.
