Point Blank isn’t a great film. Unlike Boorman’s earlier, much talked-about The French Connection, it’s not anything special or original in its cast, story, or sound design. However, with no film industry backing, Boorman faced tremendous restrictions in terms of what he could shoot and how he could shoot it. Boorman’s low-key, stylized direction was perfectly suited to a compact, high-pressure genre thriller such as Point Blank; his use of slow-motion tracking shots, beautifully staged car chases, and unapologetic use of the visual language of New Wave cinema more than make up for any structural and thematic deficiencies.

the second part of a $60 million dollar film about Lee Marvin a man who goes to jail thinking he was imprisoned as a result of a hit on his wife that was in fact a setup to exact revenge on the gangster who double-crossed him. The film begins with a good man Marvin is fighting off a mobster’s attempts to murder him over the death of the mobster’s wife. He had been hired to kill the wife and he kills the gangster instead. Marvin is then thrown into prison for his part in the attempt. While there Marvin meets a conman named Eddie and decides to investigate how his wife was killed. Meanwhile back at home things are also not looking too good as his partner in crime walks off with all their money. With Eddie’s help Marvin sets out to right the wrongs of the past and get what is rightfully his.
