How to kill zombie process

Is there a way to kill a zombie process? I have 2 process at the same time. The first one is a daemon that waits for new connection from the second one. But when the second process dies, the first one keep waiting. When the second process is started with -i option, the daemon will run in the foreground instead of being a daemon. But when the second process dies the first one becomes zombie.
My goal is to kill the daemon process when the second process die. I could not find any solution except kill -9 the process. Is there any other solutions?

You can’t “kill a zombie process”, because there isn’t a process. A process has a TTY, and TTY’s have a controlling terminal. In Linux, you can be connected to a controlling terminal by a shell, and then if you close the shell, the terminal will be closed and you lose your ability to attach to it. However, if you launch a process, it will be the same situation, except that you will have multiple TTYs and the controlling terminal will be a different one for each.
A zombie process is not a process, it is just a (very temporarily-lived) memory image of a process. When the process that created it dies, it will be turned into a zombie.
