Faraway: Puzzle Escape Room is a puzzle adventure game developed by American studio The Behemoth and published by Happion and released for Microsoft Windows and macOS in January 2018. Faraway was released for iOS on October 17, 2019. Faraway is inspired by interactive fiction and a touch of The Sims.
Gameplay
Faraway allows the player to travel to the city of Tronald’s Gate during the year 3036 in order to investigate a psychic, who disappeared from the local asylum. The protagonist must solve the game by using clues and items around the city.
The player gives the protagonist a backstory and a pre-vocation, which they can use to affect how the game goes.
Plot
Faraway is set in 3036, the year before the world discovers the Zhelin race by accident when a psychic from the Zhelin species unexpectedly appears on a starship, a few months before the beginning of the games campaign. Upon the emergence of this new species, several institutions around the world noticed a new aberration: a psychic on a starship. A sinister government organization wanted to learn more about this new species before allowing this species to grow and spread. The ship, known as the Vighi, vanished during the last visual contact, with no record of the ship ever docking in any port. After a few months with no direct contact, some of the institutions decided to open an investigation to discover what had happened to the ship and the psychic. Over the next few years and several attempts in finding out about the ship and its psychic, the protagonist overhears that 3 people escaped from the ship, one being the subject of the game, a girl who just entered the asylum and was diagnosed as having mental instability. The protagonist hacks into the archive for the ship and the digital version of the ship, and discovers that most of the crew of the Vighi are long dead, along with the psychic. There is no record of what happened to the girl either, leaving the protagonist thinking that she could have been responsible for the disappearance of the ship. All that is known for certain is that she was able to escape the Vighi.
The protagonist, with some heavy help from a friend she meets on the ship, escapes to get some information about the ship and about this girl. They land on the planet Tronald, where they research the fate of this girl, finding out that they “found” her after a meteor strike, leaving no trace of what happened to her. After making contact
