This is not a answer but a comment which is too long for comment box.
I don’t know what is the architecture of your game but the typical way you handle this is to keep a list of the players and other entities involved in multiplayer. When the game is over, you don’t just check if the entities are in the same position, you also make sure that the player is the last one to enter the game. There is nothing wrong with your existing solutions but it seems like you are duplicating effort and it is not simple at all.
Instead, simply keep a list of your players and your map, and check all that in the end.
Your other solution, figuring out where each player is in relation to other entities is also possible but it would require keeping track of all the players movements in multiplayer.

There are different solutions to this problem, I would suggest the following:

One map which is shared among all players, and if not, how do you resolve collisions between players (do you just ignore them and not take into account their position and speed?)
If you want to actually place players on the map, one entity per player
Whenever a player dies, the map will be unloaded by all of the players – otherwise when the player logs in next time, the map is simply reloaded
The client will send the map location to every player on their local network, and the server will do the same
