Twinfold
A splintered event remnant from the mind of a wandering insane
man. A karmic ticking of fate and a requisite of sin. A
spiritual pilgrimage performed by the noble transgressor.
A journey of… well, of course, it’s the game.
Twinfold is a 2D rogue-like puzzle-platformer with tactical
turn-based combat. Manipulate a multi-layered maze of
obstacles by combining cognitive elements and harmony
to create both temporal and spatial patterns. Take back the
world by merging babies and smashing angry faces.
The rules of the game state that death, whether by your own
merging power or the whims of the gods, is only a stepping
stone in life. You are not required to truly achieve
victory at any point, just as long as you do not sacrifice
your soul, making you the most powerful and cunning
player.
Play through an endlessly re-playable journey, either
just for the single-player experience or enjoy with a
friend. With a full breadth of game modes ranging from
Time Trial, Hardcore, and Challenge to Arcade, Story, and
Advanced, there’s something for everyone.
The Hurdles
Twinfold is the product of the combined efforts of an
individual who is in a constant state of tromping in
and out of an asylum. The ability to recreate these
interactions to a serviceable level in a digital
environment is at the core of the play experience. While
the intention is to re-create the feeling of many low
budgets, inexperienced developers, and an insane mind.

Design Concepts
Creating a roguelike is no easy task. It takes
quite a bit to get the basic mechanics down, and
there is also a lot of gameplay in the myriad of
traditionally rogue-likes out there to compare
and contrast your game to.
With Twinfold, I wanted the game to be very
strategic, mechanically speaking. I wanted to
not only create a procedural puzzler, but one
where the puzzle came first before the control
scheme.
