Design and features

The major difference between AutoCAD and other CAD programs is that the authoring, edition and layout is done within a 2D space. Dimensions, material properties and spline models can be created in the 2D space, then transferred to 3D space or exported. This makes it easier to achieve a well-organized 2D drawing since the user is limited to manipulating 2D elements.

Using the Outliner, you can easily navigate to any 2D entity in the drawing by moving the cursor to its location, double-clicking, or pressing ENTER.
