Why is the activity recreated when the onCreate() method is not called?
In my application I have two activity, HomeActivity and SettingsActivity.
I have some code in the onCreate() method of HomeActivity, but also the code is called when I start the app and go to SettingsActivity (because when the app starts HomeActivity is the default activity).
Why is this so?

In Android, an Activity is an interface component. That’s why it is recreated every time.
If your home activity is hidden and only the settings activity is shown, then your settings activity will be displayed and every time the user switches to the settings activity, then the home activity will be shown.
I think you need to change how you are launching your home and settings activity.
