The core of AutoCAD is a 3D (3-dimensional) modeling program called “drafting.” Although technically part of the same “package” as AutoCAD, the drafting program is used to do much of the drawing work in AutoCAD.

AutoCAD users can work at a 2D (2-dimensional) or 3D computer display. Sometimes, 2D drawing and 3D modeling work is done at the same time.

In many cases, users who work with AutoCAD get involved in other activities as well. AutoCAD enables them to do the following:

Import and export drawings from and to other AutoCAD users.

View and edit AutoCAD DWG (Autodesk Design Web Format) files.

Create reports, layouts, and many other special types of documents.

The Draw panel, the default location of tools, is the most familiar part of the program’s interface. It is accessed by pressing the F key on the keyboard.

The panels are grouped by category, such as drawing, drafting, design, and so on. Each panel is divided into one or more “tabs.”

The Drawing panel contains the tools and commands available to the user when working on 2D drawings. The Drawing panel is on the top of the left or right monitor, depending on whether AutoCAD is viewed as a two- or three-monitor application.

The Drafting panel contains the tools and commands available to the user when working with 3D models. The Drafting panel is on the top of the left or right monitor, depending on whether AutoCAD is viewed as a two- or three-monitor application.

The Data Management panel contains tools for selecting, moving, copying, and pasting data

Autodesk Fusion 360 is a cloud-based, collaborative design platform that uses machine learning to create and model 3D projects, such as buildings, interiors and landscapes. The application is part of the Autodesk 360 cloud portfolio.

Autodesk provides a large range of software and services that are offered both online and as products. In 2007, Autodesk’s revenue was $2.7 billion. The effect of a transaxillary subcostal transcutaneous block of the spinal accessory nerve on pain and disability associated with post-operative shoulder surgery was evaluated in a prospective, randomized, double-blinded study. Patients received a spinal accessory nerve block (SABNB) or a placebo block at the end of surgery. The pain intensity and the degree of disability were assessed with the Shoulder Pain and Disability Index (SPADI) questionnaire. The mean operating time was 52.7 minutes (standard deviation [SD] 8.7) with no significant difference between the two groups. Open standards:

The AutoCAD software supports the AutoLISP language, Open Document Format (ODF), and Open XML formats for exchange of data between applications.

The Open CASCADE software supports these formats: Open CASCADE Design (CAD), CNCF (CAM), Microsoft 3D (MB) and DirectX (CAM) formats.

The support of the languages enables you to integrate design data from the programs that are used in the same network. Designers can collaborate using existing designs and receive detailed feedback on the correct execution of the designs (Figure 13).
