Tank Battle: Blitzkrieg is a turn based wargame set during WW II. The game involves a certain amount of skill and strategy.
The game is usually played over 4 turns although players can often be accommodated for longer with some changes in map layout. The game features a feature called ‘Zonal Control’, this can be seen as a mini-campaign to the game where the German and Allies races to capture Poland and along the way capture or destroy all the important cities in Poland.
The German side in the game is like a character out of a novel and can be proud of the accomplishments of the Wehrmacht and their WW2 history. The game offers a little humour due to the quirky character of the Germans who have their own tanks.
The Allies have more of a feel of a game of real life and you will have seen the various video games based around this conflict such as the ‘Dawn of War: The First Crusade’ and most recently the ‘Battle of France’ a game from Z-Man Games based on ‘Command and Conquer: Generals’.
The forces available in the game are the standard British and German armies. There are three types of terrain per map, you have the forests, villages and towns, these offer a greater sense of tactically interesting situations. The maps can have many variants and features such as river crossings, enemy watch points, bridge crossings, ravines and minefields.
The game is ideal for intermediate and advanced players who have played something like a command game before. A second player can be added as well to give a different perspective on the game.

Gameplay Features

Summary of the gameplay

It is a turn based wargame based around WW2 in Western Europe. The game is set in 1 turn per game for a game of 4 turns, players have to follow the movement of their units. They can change unit orders but only at the end of their turn.

There is a range of vehicles used by the players and the game mechanics are simple and easy to follow. Players roll a die for each of their orders, if they roll a 6 the order is successful.

Combat is a sequence of actions performed by a unit, for example moving up to an enemy unit, firing a gun, reloading the gun and so on. Each unit is equipped with a number of firing points and can have a minimum of 2 firing points and a maximum of 8, these can be found at a unit’s screen.
