No, I don’t think you should.
The game’s a roguelike, and while it does have branching, I don’t think the free DLC breaks the core rules. There will be clear, in-your-face signposts to when you choose one route over the other, and your character will benefit from the resources you have collected along the way.
The “Choose your class, then the gear, items, armor, weapons, and items,” and “I will go west. You can catch up with me there,” aspects of it are quite clear.
On the other hand, there are no rules against just swapping the choice of path every five minutes. The fact that you can swap your path is, in fact, exactly why I don’t think it should be called a roguelike game.
For what it’s worth, I think it’s something of a sweet idea. The fact that most games don’t have a choice of paths is a problem. There have to be consequences to that. However, the game has a life cycle that it is part of. There’s no “beyond the next cutscene” option, and so there’s no opportunity for a game of chicken.

This is a real-time strategy game set in a 3D, RTS style. The campaign will last around 12 hours. Objectives on each map
There will be special icons that appear on the battlefield after each match starts. These icons will give you some sort of task that will lead you to a battle. These may be to capture a specific position, destroy a box of weapons, or protect a stronghold. As you defeat the enemy commander’s units, the special icon will give you a hint as to what to do next.
There may also be a “hub” in the middle of the map. In a hub, you would find a sentry that stops enemy units from entering the zone. A defender may be used to stop enemies from approaching a certain point, or defend a base. You may also find a commander ready to take command in the middle of the map to help you with your job. These special icons will indicate the direction to take, and a bit about the nature of the icon.
Chosen units will automatically reveal a purpose on the battlefield. After entering the battle, a match will start, and both teams will be given objectives to accomplish. After the battle is over, when the match is restarted, the command icons will be revealed again to help you lead your forces into battle.
The A.I. will consider many things before opening fire on you. For example, if it sees you have no shield, it will save your life, and will try to avoid engaging you in battle until you collect a shield or armor.
Teamwork is vital to win a match. For example, if you are alone in a battle and the enemy leader sees that you have no shield, he will approach you to see if you have a shield. This situation is called a
