The problem is as follows:

Riley, a fourteen-year-old boy, is on the ocean in his sailboat, the
‘Clarion’, and is home alone. He is exploring the ocean to see if he
can capture sea animals and bring them back to shore.
He is currently floating on a swell approximately 4 meters high and
45 meters long. He was last seen just after sunrise, looking out a
large window of his house and then, apparently, just after sunset,
looking out the same window again.
He has a small radio and a compass, and at any given time he knows
exactly where he is.
He also has an old map and some coordinates. He plans to stop
examining the map until he has made three trips across the ocean,
since it takes a few hours for the currents to shift as much as he
plans to travel.

Riley keeps a list of all the animals he has seen and their coordinates. Using this list, he plans out the most efficient route across the ocean. He then uses his compass, radio, and coordinates, to calculate the ideal course to take.
Being a beginner with programming, I’ve been working on a basic game that calculates the ideal course, but I can’t seem to find where exactly to put the coordinates as input.
I need this input as a 2d array of integers that are the coordinates for each point on the map.
I’ve been using command line arguments, but it doesn’t seem to be working.
Any help would be appreciated.

Something like this. First initialize the coordinates as an array of your size n, n being the number of coordinates that you have. The coordinates will be all the integers from 0 to n – 1. Now when you want to check for a co-ordinate you compare it with the value you have in your array.
