Oerlikon on July 26 announced it has decided to split its data services business from its printing equipment unit.

The Swiss company said the decision will enable the data services unit to focus on being a supplier of high quality data processing solutions.

“We see a major growth opportunity for our data services business, which has been our fastest growing business for many years and which we expect will now be even more successful,” said Alfred Herrmann, President and CEO of Oerlikon.

In the second quarter of 2013, sales of the unit amounted to CHF305 million, a CHF16 million increase compared with the same period last year.

The company said the data services business had been growing at a particularly strong pace and had grown by more than 30 percent over the last 12 months compared to an 8 percent increase over the same period in the printing equipment business.

“With Oerlikon’s data services business, we are successfully merging the worlds of data management and data processing into a single unit,” said Andreas Haiger, Executive Vice President, Application Engineering and Services.

“This has enabled us to offer our customers a range of unique solutions.     What’s new in MechWarrior Online™ Solaris 7:

    After a long (and long) stint of waiting, the Kickstarter campaign for Meteor Hunter Deluxe just launched – and you can read all about the game here. There were many things that I was originally looking forward to in the game, and I want to talk to you about some of the cool changes that have been implemented since launch.

    What I’d like to call ‘The White Paper’ was the second version of the PDF document. This version has a lot of little glitches that I want to eliminate ASAP – Like it saying ‘DELUXE’ as ‘DELUXE + one character’ – Basically, make certain stretches of text consistent with how the Game will function.

    The core gameplay mechanics haven’t changed that much, the core mechanics hold up very well. For those who’ve read my previous articles, you may be asking what this had to do with the content dump?

    It’s simple. Me, and most other writers go through this process. We will write our articles. We will do the editing ourselves. We’ll post them online. But, sooner or later there will be little discrepancies in content and the like.

    The same goes for me with the video game. I go all in on the direction I want the game to go in. I’ve always been ‘the writer’, early on in my career. It was natural to expect that on a game like this, I’m the writer and designer, I would start to ‘throw ideas’ at the development team at the development team.

    Development processes are a bit more ‘democratic’ in 2017. Most devs working in the gaming industry want to play a role in the creative process. They’d like to be involved. And it is my opinion that all devs should be expected to engage in the editing process as much as writing or creating.

    So, What in Meteor Hunter Deluxe is Changing?

    There are a few notable changes, some small, some large. There are ways you can approach a change. We want you to have the game ‘feel’ to you, any changes we make are made to the purpose of making the game ‘feel’ a certain way.

    Shotgun is the standard subspace blasters, with several ammo. Has a perfect rate of fire and very high power.

    Missiles:
    There are 2 types of missiles : Standard and Big Band.
    Standard missiles are very common subspace blaster weapons with unlimited ammo and very low power.
    Big Band are huge cylindrical missiles : very dangerous and hard to use due to its slow rate of fire.

    Sub-weapons:
    There are 2 sub-weapons : Anchor & Pinch.
    Anchor is a special sub-weapon that can be used once per level or once in 8 hours of game play time. Use it to slow down the enemy, anchor the enemy and level.
    Pinch is a special sub-weapon that have to be used in quick succession and if one enemy is on anchor, the other will be pinned for a few seconds. Use it to outmaneuver and pin.

    Warp grenades:
    There are 2 types of Warp grenades : Missiles & Blue Band.
    Missiles are very common subspace blasters. They are used to pin enemy and level. They have unlimited ammo.
    Blue Band are huge cylindrical missiles that have more power than any other sub-weapon.
