“cannot find symbol” error in Eclipse while compiling java files

I’m a Java newbie. I’ve just installed Java SDK 5.0 update 21 on my Windows 7 box. And when I try to compile/run my 1st java project, I get the following error:

cannot find symbol

This is how I compile/run my project:

Right-click the project -> Build Automatically.
“Run as” -> “Java Application”.
“Project properties” -> “Run-Time VM” tab.
“C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_31\jre” (C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_31\ is the path where my jdk is installed)

But,

I can compile/run my project before updating my eclipse to the latest release. So, why am I getting this error after I upgraded the Eclipse?

“Project properties” -> “Run-Time VM” tab.
“C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_31\jre”

The above code line is not correct, as you want to use the “C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_31” path instead.

How to Play:
There are eight jumps in total. Each jump takes you to a new level. Depending on the difficulty you choose, you will either advance through each level or find yourself in a sticky situation.
To jump, hit the triangle button. When you are standing on a block, you can run to it, or by holding the button, jump. Both are fine. You can’t jump when your character is suspended in the air.
The jumps seem to have different attributes. You can’t see the blocks that are connected with a blue line, but you can see the blocks connected with a red line.
At each jump, you will find two squares on the floor. Try to enter the squares with your head. Each square is linked to the square you are jumping to, so jumping to a wrong square will lead to a fail.
The jump to the end of the game is protected by a red square. You will see a symbol with a heart on it when you get close to it, but you will never be able to reach it.
In the Tutorial, you will be given instructions. Sometimes, by jumping on the block, you will destroy it and earn a fail.
Do not stand still for too long, or you will not jump at all.
