    We love a lot of fantasy role-playing games, and one of our favorites from a few years ago was the Folk Tale game, which came out in 2011. The original Folk Tale was an impressive action RPG that spawned an expansion with a more peaceful and charming aesthetic that I ended up becoming a huge fan of. Well, this sequel is not only a beautiful spiritual successor, but it also has something that I think makes it even better than Folk Tale.

    And sure enough, Folk Tale 2 may be just as gorgeous as its predecessor, but it also brings something that completely carries the series into the next level. This time around, the RPG won’t be focused on grand scale battles and fantastical monsters. This is a game for a young audience; it takes its cues from the more recent Chibi-Robot style of anime, with more colorful characters and more cartoony, casual combat.

    Combat takes place across an open map, which may be a level in a city, a town, or even a village. Each level has a variety of objectives to complete, and you can enjoy a variety of battles like capturing, defending, or rescuing. Combat uses an RPG staple, where you can equip different weapons and attack with various moves. Unlike the original, we don’t fight against real enemies. Instead, our enemies have four different phases, each of which can be defeated in a different way.

    Even though this game is more lighthearted and accessible, it is still an RPG. Character building elements are present, and you can interact with the environment in different ways; the world won’t be flat like in the original game. Choosing the right weapon and equipping it in the right way will affect how powerful you become in battles.

    The levels are also designed to be different and have different obstacles. There are also quests that are given to you. If you complete a quest, you will receive XP (a currency that you can spend to level up, buy items, or buy more powerful weapons). And if you get good enough at the game, you can get more quests! The world feels alive, and you feel a sense of ownership because you become a part of it.

    The graphics may not be as fancy as many other RPG games but I found it to be delightful nonetheless. The colors are brighter, and the characters have a sense of life, thanks to the excellent use of cutscenes and timing. The music is also
