Temperatures Wednesday could reach below freezing. Even at 5 a.m., the low temperature for Wednesday will be 13 degrees, tying the coldest temperature for that date in 1895. (If temperatures are colder Wednesday morning, the coldest temperature for that date will be at 9 a.m.)

If temperatures stay below zero, the coldest temperature for the District this date will be at 9:16 a.m. on Jan. 11. Temperatures that day will be in the minus 20s and the low will be close to zero.

Thursday will start off warmer than Wednesday. The temperature will rise above freezing around 9 a.m. and by noon it will be 25 degrees — slightly warmer than Tuesday — but still colder than Wednesday.

Temperatures will drop into the minus 20s Wednesday night. Thursday will again be colder than Wednesday at 5 a.m. The low temperature will be in the minus 30s at 5 a.m. with temperatures in the upper 20s to low 30s all night long.

Friday will also be colder than Wednesday at 5 a.m. However, temperatures will be in the mid-20s for Thursday and it will be in the plus 20s by Friday night.
